“You set the bar pretty high, to be honest. But yeah, my dad was an alcoholic who would take his anger out on me and my sister. I remember this one time, fucker got home with his tie hanging and his shirt out. Turns out he’d crashed the family tractor, the only thing that could give us money to at least eat, and ran the dog over. I was outside with my sister, looking at the stars, and he asks me to hug him. Guy smells like shit and has stains all over his shirt. I push him away, and slaps me in the face. My sister tries to separate us, but the douche won’t stop hitting me. My mom comes out of the house after hearing the racket and pulls him away. They argue, he hits her, basic family shit. Next thing I know, I’m walking away from the house with my sister as my prick of a dad beats up my mom”

Delmont is a main character in Rot and RiseHe was born and raised in a farm, having to live with a tough father who would remind him of how bad life can be with the wrong cohorts. When his father gets mad and starts beating his whole family, Delmont is forced to run away with his sister to an orphanage. In the early days of the apocalypse, he also loses his sister. After wandering around for a few weeks, he finds Alice and saves her from Juana. They leave the high school where Alice hid and started to look for a safer place.

Not much is known about Delmont's life before the apocalypse, except that he lived with his abusive father, a sister and a mother. He ran away from home with his sister on a dark night, as his father beat his mother. They lived in an orphange for the rest of their childhood, knowing nothing about the rest of their family.
